Obsessed (2009)
Rated: PG-13 | Review date: 19-Nov-2009
TV director Steve Shill takes a stab at feature films with Obsessed, starring Beyoncé Knowles, Idris Elba, and Ali Larter. The story follows a successful man named Darek (Elba) and his wife (Knowles) along with their new child. Darek gains the attention of a new (and quite attractive) temp worker (Larter) and her infatuation unfolds. The writing, by David Loughery (Passenger 57), is mainly what drags this film down. It’s full of clichés and bad dialog that just felt a bit forced. For me, the standout of this film was Ms. Knowles. Beyoncé boasts the best acting display in the film, and deserves much credit for her role. The rest of the cast is so-so, but I suppose they did the best they could with the script given. Overall, Obsessed is nothing we haven’t seen before, quite predictable and lacking in several areas. Nonetheless it is still entertaining and makes for a good couple’s movie. I just can’t help but wonder if it would be more successful had it kept it’s working title, “Oh No She Didn’t”?

The fight scene between Larter and Beyonce was awesome! Totally the best part of the movie.
