Director Dave Boyle’s Favorite Films of the Decade (2000-2009)
Dec 25th
Director Dave Boyle (Big Dreams, Little Tokyo, 2006) made a recent post on his Facebook page announcing his 16 favorite films of the past ten years. Ironically, none of Boyle’s picks have been reviewed on CriticNic.com to date, and many are still on the “to watch” list. 1. ZODIAC (David Fincher)
And in alphabetical order:
2. 25TH HOUR (Spike Lee) 3. AUDITION (Takashi Miike) 4. THE AVIATOR (Martin Scorsese) 5. BAD EDUCATION (Pedro Almodovar) 6. THE BEAT THAT MY HEART SKIPPED More >

Each director (who also wrote their respective segments) brought their own unique vision to the City of Light and their equally unique tales of love. More >
Twilight Saga: New Moon, The (2009)
Dec 24th
Rated: PG-13 | Review date: 13-Dec-2009
For the second film installment of the phenomenally popular book series by Stephanie Meyer, Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke is replaced by Chris Weitz (The Golden Compass). Weitz was a fine choice for New Moon, and quite possibly saved the film from becoming disastrous. What appealed to me personally so much about the first film was the cinematography and its ability to capture the mood and sometimes dark atmosphere. Weitz’s ability to convey these attributes and his handling of the action sequences helped prevent the film from turning into a long and drawn out mess.
