Roman de gare (2007)
Dec 30th
Director: Claude Lelouch | Rated: R | Review date: 30-Dec-2009
A magic-trick-wielding sadistic killer on the loose, a missing husband and father, and a best-selling author being questioned by the police about the disappearance of her alleged ghostwriter; if this doesn’t sound like the groundwork for an excellent novel than I don’t know what does. Claude Lelouch directs this mysterious crime thriller about an author, played by Fanny Ardant, and three different tales intertwined to inspire her next great novel. Dominique Pinon stars as…well saying who he stars as might give too much away. Pinon gives an excellent performance and is More >
Boondock Saints, The (1999)
Dec 29th
Director: Troy Duffy | Rated: R (violence) | Review date: 29-Dec-2009
It’s been a decade since the release of the cult-shooter favorite which has finally graced us with a sequel. When coming of college age, watching The Boondock Saints is almost a right of passage. When one finishes the movie, undoubtedly the phrase “they’ve gotta make a sequel” has always come about. But let’s take a look back shall we? Was the movie really that good, so good that it kept fans on the edge of their seats, spinning rumor mills about their dreams of a sequel becoming reality?

Bangkok Dangerous (1999)
Dec 28th
Director(s): The Pang Brothers | Rated: R (violence) | Review date: 29-Dec-2009
Oxide Pang Chun and Danny Pang, otherwise known as the Pang Brothers, did something very interesting. They remade one of their own films for the English speaking audience. By this remake I am of course referring to Bangkok Dangerous (2008), starring Nicolas Cage. Fans were in outcry, offended that Hollywood bigwigs seem to feel the need to tamper with perfectly good cinema for an audience that’s too lazy to read. As strange as it was for the Pang brothers to redo one of their own films, I have to admire More >
Top 10 Favorite Films of 2009
Dec 26th
2009 was a pretty exciting year for movies. As the year ends I’ve chosen a hand full of my favorites. These are the films that came to my mind while reflecting, but it’s likely that I’ve left out a few that I really enjoyed. There were many great mainstream, foreign, and independent films this year so I decided to combine some faves from each group into one list (not an easy task for me). The following list is in alphabetical order, coincidentally the first pick, (500) Days of Summer, would be my favorite if I absolutely had to choose. Note: More >
Zombie Honeymoon (2004)
Dec 25th
Rated: n/a (gore) | Review date: 25-Dec-2009
It seems zombie-themed movies have increased in recent years, spawning a wide variety of takes on the undead flesh eaters. David Gebroe’s Zombie Honeymoon may not be one of the best zombie films to come out, but it certainly gets much respect for being one of the most original. The story follows a newlywed couple, Denise and Danny (Tracy Coogan and Graham Sibley), who decide to quit their jobs and leave their life for a new start in Portugal. The vegetarian surf-lovers enjoy a picnic on the beach for their honeymoon when suddenly a creepy More >
