Joe Swanberg and Greta Gerwig’s Nights and Weekends follows a long distance relationship between two twenty-somethings over the period of roughly a year. The film goes back and forth between Chicago and New York, but only a few scenes take place outside of an apartment. Clare Kilner (The Wedding Date; How to Deal) treads away from typical rom-com territory into the realm of the trendy raunchiness train with American Virgin. Take some of the best elements from movies like American Pie and Road Trip and you get American Virgin. Needless to say, the film is hardly original.
