Date Night (2010)
Aug 21st
Director: Shawn Levy Writer: Josh Klausner Rated: PG-13 (mild language) Cast: Tina Fey, Steve Carell, Mark Wahlberg, Jimmi Simpson, Common, and Taraji P. Henson
Date Night opens with The Ramones’ ‘Blitzkrieg Bop’ playing, which right away gave me a bad feeling about this movie. Not that I don’t like the song, I love it, but it has no business in a romantic comedy.
Steve Carrell and Tina Fey play a couple in a marriage crisis who find themselves mixed up in a sticky situation after a case of mistaken identity. What follows is a series of wacky and unrealistic events and More >
Say Goodnight (2008)
Aug 7th
Writer/director: David VonAllmen Rated: R (language/sexuality) Cast: Aaron Paul, Carly Pope, Rob Benedict, Shannon Lucio, Christopher Gessner, Smith Cho, and David Monahan.
Say Goodnight follows four buddies recalling the beginnings of which three of them found the so-called loves of their lives. The result is a blend of raunchiness, laugh out loud humor, and surprisingly realistic relationship situations.
First time writer and director David VonAllmen crafts a pleasant and sexy romantic comedy in a genre that seems to offer less and less originality these days. While the story behind Say Goodnight is nothing incredibly original, it’s still well executed, nicely acted, and most importantly More >
Peter and Vandy (2009)

Peter and Vandy (Jason Ritter and Jess Weixler) are two young lovers in Manhattan. The film is a classic boy meets girl tale, except being told out of sequence and following the many highs and lows that realistically exist in modern relationships. I found the film very reminiscent of last year’s 500 Days of Summer with respect to both the non-linear storytelling and extremely realistic and honest relationship portrayal. Where Peter and Vandy differs, however, is it its more basic approach. I absolutely More >
