Author: Lauren Kate | Release date: Dec-2009 | ISBN: 0385738935 | Review date: 6-Jan-2010 – First Book Review!

Sure, this site’s primary focus is movie reviews and related news. But being that it’s the new year and all, I thought it doesn’t hurt to make things a bit spontaneous from time to time. Since I haven’t read for pleasure in some time, I thought this deserves some bit of recognition. So here you have it, my first book review. This book mainly sparked my interest after hearing about the possible film adaptation.

Top 20 Favorite Films of the Decade (2000-2009)

Happy New Year to All!

The past 10 years have been very exciting for cinema. Below I’ve compiled my list of 20 movies that stood out the most for me. Albeit there were countless great movies that have come out and well deserving to be on this list, these seemed to stick with me the most and have made a big impact. As with my top films of 2009, my favorite movies of the decade are comprised of mainstream, foreign, and independents that I have enjoyed. Without further ado, here’s the list (in alphabetical order):

1. 13 Tzameti 2. 500 Days of Summer 3. The Cake Eaters 4. Children of Men 5. The More >

Zombie Honeymoon (2004)

Rated: n/a (gore) | Review date: 25-Dec-2009

It seems zombie-themed movies have increased in recent years, spawning a wide variety of takes on the undead flesh eaters. David Gebroe’s Zombie Honeymoon may not be one of the best zombie films to come out, but it certainly gets much respect for being one of the most original. The story follows a  newlywed couple, Denise and Danny (Tracy Coogan and Graham Sibley), who decide to quit their jobs and leave their life for a new start in Portugal. The vegetarian surf-lovers enjoy a picnic on the beach for their honeymoon when suddenly a creepy looking More >

Smash Cut

Smash Cut (2009)

Rated: n/a (extreme gore) | Review date: 25-Dec-2009

The team of director Lee Demarbre and writer Ian Driscoll, who brought us titles such as Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter and The Dead Sleep Easy, pair up again for Smash Cut. The film follows independent filmmaker Able Whitman, played by David Hess, who begins to question his faith in his craft after his latest film received negative reviews. Able seeks inspiration from his stripper friend and muse Georgina Carson aka Gigi Spot. After a late night accident, Able thinks he’s found a new formula to create the most believable horror movies in More >

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre

Texas Chain Saw Massacre, The (1974)

Rated: R | Review date: 22-Nov-2009

Tobe Hooper’s The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is synonymous with the horror genre. Many hold it solely responsible for reinventing the genre as a whole, just as Hitchcock’s Psycho did in the decade prior. Thirty-five years later the film’s reputation still precedes it, and few films have come close to achieving its level of notoriety. Being so unfortunate as to not have grown up during such a profound era for such raw and innovative film-making, I’m sure my experience could never measure up to viewing this piece at its initial release. Even so, after watching More >
