Freaky Farley (2007)

Review date: 3-Oct-2009

Director Charles Roxburgh and producer/actor Matt Farley (“Monsters Marriage and Murder in Manchvegas“) team up for “Freaky Farley,” a horror/comedy with an 80′s B-movie slasher vibe. The story circles “Freaky” Farley Wilder, a loner who’s gradually become insane due to his father’s overbearing nature. Farley (Matt Farley) spends his days (when not being quizzed by his father) wandering the woods, riding his inner-tube in the creek, listening to his radio, and most of all being a Peeping Tom among the town’s hotties.

There’s hope for Farley when he meets Scarlett More >

Monsters Marriage and Murder in Manchvegas (2009)

Film watching fun

Review date: 28-Sept-2009

Some films are so bad they are entertaining, while others are intentionally bad which makes them good. Monsters Marriage and Murder in Manchvegas lies somewhere in between the two. What immediately sticks out with this film is the script. The dialog is unnatural and over-descriptive, almost like the characters are narrating which makes it flat out comical. The film is shot on film with plenty of graininess, adding to the wackiness of this picture. What’s more, the soundtrack, actually sung by star and co-writer Matt Farley, is so goofy and More >

FAQ About Time Travel

Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel (2009)

Review date: 26-Sept-2009

So what happens when a group of three best friends discover that time travel is possible? The answer is hilariousness. “FAQ About Time Travel” is a non-stop funny sci-fi (err, Science Fiction) adventure about three lads that discover a leak in time through the men’s restroom. I was not expecting too much from this, however it ended up being a pleasant surprise. Being a new fan of the show “The IT Crowd” it was nice to see Chris O’Dowd in another role, and having Anna Faris was a surprising choice but ended up being a perfect one. Being a lower budget film it had some More >

Answer Man, The (2009)

aka “Arlen Faber”

Review date: 23-Sept-2009

Arlen Faber, played by Jeff Daniels, is an acclaimed spiritual author who’s success is derived from a book of his conversations with God. Arlen shelters himself from the public but soon enough his identity becomes known by a local book store owner (played by one of my new favorite actors, Lou Taylor Pucci) who begins to receive answers from Arlen in exchange for Arlen’s used books. Meanwhile Arlen’s love interest (played by Lauren Graham) slowly helps Arlen become truly enlightened. “The Answer Man” is the story of a man who has just as must More >

Away We Go (2009)

Review date: 23-Sept-2009

Away We Go, directed by Sam Mendes and written by Dave Eggers and Vendela Vida, follows two unwed parents-to-be on their journey across North America to hopefully find a new home (and perhaps themselves). Burt and Verona (John Krasinski and Maya Rudolph) meet up with their unique and interesting friends and family across the states and Canada in hopes of having friends where they settle. What they get becomes much more than that as they find themselves learning how truly lucky and blessed they are, contradictory to the “fuck-ups” they claimed to be. The movie is More >
