Girlfriend Experience, The (2009)

Soderburgh’s version of mumblecore…sort of.

Rated R | Review date: 9-Oct-2009

Steven Soderburgh, well known for his dabbling in the indie world between big budget Hollywood pieces, delivers a slice of life that is The Girlfriend Experience. The  film stars Sasha Grey, award-winning adult film starlet, as Chelsea, an upscale New York City escort. Right away, upon hearing that the film’s star is of the adult industry, it is to be expected that many will stray away from this film. This however, is a big mistake in the case of The Girlfriend Experience. Though it is often the case that adult More >

Zombieland (2009)

Sometimes you have to appreciate the little things…like good old fashioned zombie movies (and Twinkies)

2-October-2009

Ruben Fleischer makes his feature debut with “Zombieland,” an all out action-adventure-comedy-horror that will surely be one of the top films of 2009. The story opens with a post-apocalyptic world overrun by flesh-craving zombies. These zombies however are not the typical Romeroian zombies. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009)

Being someone who hasn’t read the books and only seen two of the other movies..I was blown away! The acting of the now young-adult actors is simply brilliant. The mood and atmosphere are stunning, and the story is good enough to keep you sitting through the long runtime. If you haven’t seen any of the other movies or read any of the books (or had no interest) you should at least give this one a try!

Adventureland (2009)

Not sure what else to say besides that I loved this movie! Kristen Stewart is stunning as usual, and Jesse Eisenberg is kind of like the new Michael Cera (except having testosterone). We can all probably relate to parts of this film through it’s diverse characters. Definitely one of my new favorite films of this genre.
